This booking engine uses CarTrawler’s technology and allows you to use it to book a car rental or ground transportation (including but not limited to taxis, shuttle and chauffeur-driven car rental services, private transfers, business class transfers, first-class transfers, bus and minibus transfers, train transfers, transfers for persons with reduced mobility and limousine transfers) (“Transportation Service”) with third party car rental or ground transportation providers (“Transportation Service Providers”).

Please read these CarTrawler Booking Engine Terms and Conditions of Use (“Booking Conditions”) carefully, as they apply to all content on this booking engine. By using any section of this booking engine, you agree to these Booking Conditions (whether or not you choose to register on our site or book Transportation Services) and agree (i) to conduct your use of the booking engine in accordance with the Booking Conditions, and (ii) that the Booking Conditions constitute a legal agreement between you and CarTrawler. If you do not agree or do not accept the binding nature of these Booking Conditions, please do not use this booking engine or cease using it immediately.

By using this booking engine, you acknowledge that all information including, but not limited to, information relating to Transportation Services, Transportation Service Providers, holidays and trips published on this booking engine, may contain inaccuracies or typographical errors and that CarTrawler shall not be liable for any such inaccuracies or errors.

At its sole discretion, CarTrawler may change these Booking Conditions at any time by updating this posting. Certain provisions of these Booking Conditions may be superseded by expressly stated legal notices or terms located on the website through which you accessed this booking engine.

These Booking Conditions also apply to all bookings made through the CarTrawler Customer Service Centre of Excellence (“CCE”), and will be emailed to you when you make a telephone booking through the CCE.

About Cartrawler

This booking engine is operated by ETrawler Unlimited Company, a company incorporated in Ireland, whose trading name is CarTrawler (“CarTrawler”, “we”, “us”, “us” or “our”). We are registered in Ireland with company registration number 93433 and our registered office address is Classon House, Dundrum Business Park, Dundrum, Dublin 14, Ireland, which is also our principal address. CarTrawler’s contact details are included on the Voucher or available at www.cartrawler.com.

CarTrawler facilitates Transportation bookings by introducing Transportation Providers and other ancillary services through this booking engine; CarTrawler receives a commission for this. CarTrawler does not own or manage any Transportation Services and is not a Transportation Service Provider. The contract for the Transportation Services (“Transportation Service Terms”) will be between you and the Transportation Service Provider, to which CarTrawler will not be a party. The relevant Transport Service Conditions can be accessed via this booking engine once you have selected the Transport Service offered by such Transport Service Provider and entered the information required to make the booking. By making a booking with a Carrier via this booking engine, you are bound by and declare that you accept the relevant Carrier’s Conditions of Carriage. CarTrawler makes no warranties or representations about any Transportation Service Provider or Transportation Service offered or provided by any Transportation Service Provider. The Transportation Service Provider is solely responsible for providing you with the Transportation Service booked through this booking engine.

For UK customers making Transport bookings through this booking engine and paying with UK issued credit cards, CarTrawler outsources the following services to its wholly owned UK subsidiary ETrawler UK Limited (company number 08565121): (i) payment processing; (ii) issuing of Transport vouchers; and (iii) customer service (handling of general customer enquiries, cancellations, refunds and complaints).

Taxes and fees

The accuracy of any price quoted for the Transportation Services on this booking engine and any booking made through this booking engine is dependent and subject to the information for the booking that you provide through this booking engine (including, but not limited to, driver age, location and pick-up or drop-off time).

Access to the Service

Whilst CarTrawler endeavours to ensure that the booking engine is normally available 24 hours a day, CarTrawler accepts no liability whatsoever if, for any reason, the booking engine is unavailable for any period or for any time. Access to the booking engine may be suspended temporarily and without notice in the event of system failure, maintenance or repair work, or for reasons beyond CarTrawler’s control.

Booking conditions

Please read the following terms and conditions applicable to bookings made by you with Carriers through this booking engine.

A. Making a reservation

Because CarTrawler operates on a global scale, it uses four types of commercial payment models for the booking of Transportation Services. The payment model available to you, when you make a booking, will depend on your location or the selected CarTrawler Transport Service Provider’s Terms of Service.

The four commercial payment models are as follows:

  1. payment of a booking deposit to CarTrawler at the time of booking and, upon arrival at the office of the Transport Service Provider, payment of the remaining amount before using the Transport Service;
  2. payment of a booking deposit to CarTrawler at the time of booking and payment of the remaining amount in advance prior to your arrival at the office of the Transport Service Provider;
  3. payment of the total cost of the Transport Service to CarTrawler at the time of booking and, in case of car rental, payment only for fuel (petrol/diesel) and optional extras, if not paid for during the booking, upon arrival at the office of the Transport Service Provider;
  4. no payment is made at the time of booking. The full cost of the Shuttle Service shall be paid to the Shuttle Service Provider upon arrival at the Shuttle Service Provider’s office prior to using the Shuttle Service.

In the event that you pay the full cost of the Transport Service at the time of booking and you have chosen to do so via a payment instalment provider, CarTrawler may transfer your right to receive payment to the payment instalment provider.

Please note that in the event that you fail to make any payment at the time of booking, you are solely responsible for making any outstanding payments to the Carrier when due. Some Carriers charge a no-show fee if you do not show up and do not use the transport. Prior to completing your booking, you will be informed of any advance payment required. For the avoidance of doubt, “optional extras” (including but not limited to child safety seats, GPS or additional drivers) can be added to the booking in two ways: by payment on arrival and by prepayment at the time of booking. Subject to supplier availability.

  • Optional extras” can be requested to be paid on arrival at the time of booking. In this case, they will not be charged at the time of booking. With the exception of the purchase of a product and prepayment of the “optional extras”, including options included in the supplier’s package such as zero excess insurance, payment must be made directly to the CarTrawler upon arrival at the CarTrawler office prior to collection/use of the CarTrawler Service. Please note that CarTrawler cannot guarantee the availability or price of any of the “optional extras” requested on a pay on arrival basis.
  • Special equipment and optional extras can be ordered prepaid at the time of booking (subject to supplier availability) and are included in the total rental price at the time of booking.

At all times you are responsible for the payment of any additional services or “optional extras”, which you have requested or purchased, and any applicable additional charges, including but not limited to toll and fuel charges. You are also responsible for any administrative or service charges levied by the relevant Carrier. We have various payment methods available for booking through the booking engine based on your location, which will be clearly displayed within the booking engine.

All data is transferred to a payment processor via a secure encrypted server. If you need to make a change to your booking, you must communicate this by one of the methods of communication indicated on your Voucher or via those indicated on our website www.cartrawler.com, informing CarTrawler in a clear and detailed manner. CarTrawler cannot guarantee that modifications can be processed; however, every effort will be made to achieve a satisfactory result. Modifications cannot be processed after collection or use, or the impossibility of collection or use, of the CarTrawler Transport Service Provider’s Transport Service. With regard to car hire, CarTrawler will not be able to make any refunds if you terminate your rental early. In the event that you require an extension of your car rental period after collection of the rental car (dates not covered by the car rental voucher), you must pay any additional costs directly to the CarTrawler Transportation Service Provider at the then-current local rental rates, if the car is available for the additional period requested. At the time of booking, if necessary, it is your responsibility to inform the Carrier of any significant physical or mental condition that affects your ability to drive or use the Carriage Service. If you fail to inform the Carrier of such conditions, you may not be able to claim under any relevant insurance policy in the event of an accident.

IN THE EVENT OF FAILURE TO PRESENT THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS OR CREDIT CARD, THE CAR HIRE SUPPLIER MAY REFUSE TO RELEASE THE CAR AND NO REFUND WILL BE MADE. FOR CAR HIRE, AT THE TIME OF COLLECTION OF YOUR CAR, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PRESENT (I) A FULL DRIVING LICENCE FROM YOUR COUNTRY OF ORIGIN (BOTH PARTS IN THE CASE OF A UK ISSUED LICENCE, WHICH IS ISSUED IN TWO PARTS), (II) A VALID PASSPORT AND A VALID CREDIT CARD IN THE NAME OF THE PERSON NAMED AS THE PRINCIPAL DRIVER ON THE BOOKING, WITH SUFFICIENT CREDIT AVAILABLE TO COVER THE EXCESS ON ANY CAR HIRE INSURANCE POLICY (AS APPLICABLE), AND (III) A PRINTED COPY OF THE VOUCHER. CHECK THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE FOR ANY SUCCESSIVE OR ALTERNATIVE REQUESTS WITH RESPECT TO THE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE PROVIDER OR LOCAL LAWS. FOR EXAMPLE, IN THE UNITED KINGDOM, PROOF OF ADDRESS WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED.

If you make a booking but do not collect/use the Transport Service (and have not cancelled that booking in accordance with the cancellation policy set out below), no refund will be given.

Please note that in the event that you plan to arrive late for the collection/use of the booked Transport Service, it is your responsibility to contact the Transport Service Provider to inform them of this.

In the event of flight cancellations or delays, CarTrawler will not be liable for the payment of any refunds.

B. Confirmation of reservation

Once your booking has been confirmed, CarTrawler will provide you with the Transport Service voucher (“Voucher”) on behalf of the Transport Service Provider, which includes your booking information, by email. You must present your digital Voucher to the CarTrawler Car Service Provider at the time of collection or use of the CarTrawler Car Service. If you do not receive the Voucher, please contact us immediately. The Voucher is not an invoice and does not include information about service fees or charges made by the Carrier or about additional services requested by you at the time of pick-up/use of the Carriage Service. CarTrawler recommends that you carefully check the information on the Voucher (e.g. country, location, date and time period for which the Transport Service has been booked). If there is any kind of error, you should immediately report it using one of the communication methods indicated on your Voucher or via those indicated on our website www.cartrawler.com, informing CarTrawler of the error in a clear and detailed manner. CarTrawler reserves the right to amend the booking, after the Transport Service has been booked, in the event that an error is discovered with respect to the booking or incorrect information displayed on CarTrawler’s booking engine, or communicated via the Voucher or otherwise. In the event that this occurs, CarTrawler will endeavour to notify you as soon as possible so that you can accept the amended terms (if applicable) or, alternatively, cancel your booking and receive a full refund. Please note that for bookings made within 48 hours of collection, CarTrawler may receive payment before the Transport Service Provider confirms the booking. If the Transport Service Provider does not confirm your booking, CarTrawler will not issue a Voucher and you will be refunded. CarTrawler does not physically store the Vouchers, but you will be able to access your Voucher via the “Manage Booking” tab of the booking engine should you wish to access your Voucher at any time. CarTrawler recommends that you read the Conditions of Carriage detailed on the Voucher that is the subject of your booking. The Conditions of Carriage are also available on this booking engine, but may be changed from time to time by the Carrier.

The booking number included on the Voucher must be quoted for all enquiries, cancellations or amendments to the booking.

C. Cancellations

If you wish to cancel a booking, you may do so in advance of the time of collection or use of the Transportation Service by using one of the communication methods indicated on the voucher or via the “Contact Us” or “Manage Booking” sections on our website www.cartrawler.com. Do not cancel your booking directly with the Carrier as additional fees may apply. Please refer to the Conditions of Carriage for details of the cancellation policy, any administration or handling fees and any special conditions applicable to your booking.

Except as otherwise provided in this section, and as a general rule, where CarTrawler is notified of a cancellation more than 48 hours in advance of the scheduled pick-up time or use of the Shuttle Service, a refund of the full amount paid will be guaranteed. This is subject to the force majeure provisions below in paragraph D. For car hire bookings, where CarTrawler is notified of a cancellation less than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time or use of the car hire, in the event that the amount already paid for the booking exceeds €120, you will receive a refund of the amount paid minus an administration fee of €120. This is also subject to the force majeure provisions set out below in paragraph D. With regard to ground transport bookings, where CarTrawler is notified of a cancellation less than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up time or use of the ground transport, no refund of the amount paid will be made.

Similarly, where CarTrawler receives notification of changes to your car hire booking more than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up or use of the car hire, no additional charge will be applied for rebooking. If the value of the new booking is higher than the amount already paid, the difference will be charged.

If CarTrawler receives notification of changes to your car hire booking less than 48 hours before the scheduled pick-up or use of the car hire and the amount already paid for the booking exceeds €65, CarTrawler will transfer the amount initially paid minus an administration fee of €65 to your new booking. If the amount transferred to your new booking does not cover the full cost of the booking, the difference will be charged. In the event that a new booking is required, it will be subject to the prices displayed at the time.
Where the amount you have paid for the booking is equal to or less than €65, no funds will be transferred to your new booking and the full value of the booking will be charged, subject to the prices displayed at the time.
Please note that the cancellation and amendment policies set out in these paragraphs are subject to the Carrier’s cancellation policy as set out in any applicable Conditions of Carriage for your booking. Please refer to the Conditions of Carriage for any variations to the cancellation and amendment policies set out in these paragraphs, which may include, but are not limited to, a variation (i) to the required period of notice of cancellation or amendment, or (ii) to the amount of any applicable administration fee. In the event of cancellation of a booking where the full rental amount is payable on arrival, no cancellation fee will apply.

Please note that cancellations or refunds will not be available on certain types of transportation services including, but not limited to, coach, bus or train. Please review the relevant Carrier’s cancellation and refund policies in the Conditions of Carriage for more information on these policies.

It is your responsibility to secure and arrange for the cancellation of an ancillary product or service purchased in conjunction with the booking of your Carriage Service. This includes, but is not limited to, products provided by third parties, such as insurance cover without excess. Please be sure to check the terms and conditions relating to cancellations or amendments to such products or services, as they may differ from those of your Carriage booking.

In the event that you cancel or amend a credit or debit card booking, CarTrawler shall not be liable for any financial loss you may suffer as a result of changes in exchange rates between the time of the original booking and the date of the subsequent cancellation or amendment. No cancellation or modification will be permitted after the date and time of scheduled pick-up or use of the CarTrawler Service.

D. Force majeure

We will not be in breach of these Booking Conditions or be liable for delay in performing, or failure to perform, any of our obligations under these Booking Conditions if such delay or failure is due to events, circumstances or causes beyond our reasonable control. Such events, circumstances and causes are known as “force majeure events” and, by way of example, may include, but are not limited to, acts of God, floods, droughts, earthquakes or other natural disasters, epidemics or pandemics, terrorist attacks, civil war, civil commotion or disturbances, war, threat or preparation for war, armed conflict, imposition of sanctions and embargoes. In such circumstances, the time for performance shall be extended by a period equal to the period during which the obligation has been delayed or missed. In addition, if we or the car hire services are generally affected by an event of force majeure, we shall be entitled to provide a voucher or a refund credit note in lieu of a cash refund if your booking is cancelled.

E. Price of Transport Service and exchange rates

CarTrawler endeavours to ensure that the prices for the Transport Service displayed on the booking engine are accurate in all material respects and at all times, including but not limited to the time at which you book such Transport Service through this booking engine. However, CarTrawler or the Carriage Service Provider reserves the right to amend the price of the Carriage Service after the relevant Carriage Service has been booked by you in the event that there is a manifest or obvious error in the proposed price. In the event that this occurs, CarTrawler will use its reasonable endeavours to notify you as soon as possible so that you can choose to pay the amended price or cancel your booking and receive a full refund. The exchange rates used by CarTrawler to display prices in your chosen currency are updated frequently. The exchange rates used by your credit card or debit card company may vary. CarTrawler assumes no responsibility for any discrepancies between the price displayed by CarTrawler through this booking engine and the amount charged by your credit card or debit card company as a result of the exchange rate applied.

F. Complaints procedure

One of our passions is to deliver the best customer experience in partnership with our global network of transport providers. If you feel you have not received such an experience as a customer, you can submit a complaint at the end of your journey using the following methods:

Online Booking Manager: Submit the details of your claim, along with any relevant documentation, via the “Help Centre” tab of your Booking Manager.

Telephone: Please refer to the telephone number at the bottom of your rental voucher.

To ensure that the claims process works properly, we must receive any claims within 120 days of the return date of your rental car or within 30 days of the last scheduled day of your transportation service. No claims submitted after these periods will be processed. You must allow up to 20 working days for your claim to be fully investigated. In the event that the complaint is not resolved through CarTrawler’s complaints procedure, you may refer to the Online Dispute Resolution Platform, http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr/, for further information on the dispute resolution options available.

This booking engine may display links to resources located on non-CarTrawler servers and websites controlled by third parties. The mention of any link to an external resource is not and should not be construed as a recommendation by CarTrawler, or as a warranty or representation that any information or services offered on such websites will meet certain standards or be suitable for your purposes. Such hyperlinks are provided to you for your reference and convenience only. The inclusion on this booking engine of hyperlinks to other websites or servers does not imply any endorsement of the material on such websites or servers (including, without limitation, material relating to travel information or services) or any association with their operators. CarTrawler does not control and is not responsible for such websites or servers or the parties operating them. Therefore, CarTrawler assumes no responsibility or liability for the materials on such websites or servers, or for the accuracy or legality of information contained on other websites or servers. Responsibility

In the event of any dispute between CarTrawler and you, our liability to you, if any, shall be limited to the amount paid by you for the Transportation Service. CarTrawler hereby disclaims, to the fullest extent permitted by law, any warranty (express or implied) as to the quality, completeness, performance or fitness for a particular purpose (i) of the Transportation Service booked through this booking engine and (ii) of this booking engine and any of its contents, including, without limitation, any information relating to the Transportation Service Provider included in this booking engine and the underlying technology provided in this booking engine.

As CarTrawler does not provide Transportation Services and, as such, is not a party to the Transportation Terms of Service, CarTrawler assumes no liability or responsibility (direct or indirect) to you or any other party with respect to the terms of the Transportation Terms of Service, including, without limitation, any matter or dispute with the Transportation Service Provider, including disputes relating to personal injury or damage to the Transportation Service arising out of or relating to the Transportation Service or the Transportation Terms of Service.

No unlawful or prohibited use

As a condition of your use of this booking engine, you agree with CarTrawler to refrain from using this booking engine for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by or contrary to the Booking Conditions, or that in any way damages CarTrawler’s reputation.

Age and Responsibility

By using this booking engine, you confirm that you are of sufficient legal age to book Transportation Services and assume any liability you may incur as a result of using this booking engine. By using this booking engine, you understand that you are responsible, financially or otherwise, for all uses of this booking engine by you and those who connect using your login details. CarTrawler advises you to protect your login details.

Lack of liability for credit or debit card transactions

CarTrawler endeavours to ensure that all credit and debit card transactions made on this booking engine are secure. HOWEVER, if unauthorised charges appear on the statement of any credit or debit card (i) which you have used during the booking process on this booking engine or (ii) whose details you have disclosed on this booking engine, CarTrawler shall not assume any liability or responsibility for any damage or loss of any kind suffered by you arising out of or in any way connected with such use or disclosure, provided that this shall not affect any statutory rights which you may have. In particular, by accessing this booking engine, you agree:

  1. refrain from using the booking engine to make false or speculative bookings;
  2. refrain from using the booking engine to search for Carriers or the prices charged by Carriers;
  3. refrain from using any automated system, robot or software to extract data from this booking engine;
  4. refrain from using the name “CarTrawler” or any CarTrawler trademarks for commercial purposes without the prior written permission of CarTrawler;
  5. refrain from reproducing any material from this booking engine for commercial purposes.

Exemption from liability

This booking engine is made available to you “as is” and CarTrawler makes no warranties or representations (i) that this booking engine or the technology (servers, etc.) that make it possible and support it will be free from bugs or defects; (ii) or that the information published on this booking engine is free from viruses or anything else with contaminating or destructive properties. CarTrawler accepts no liability for any infections or effects caused by harmful applications such as, but not limited to, viruses, Trojan horses, tampering, fraud, theft, bugs, technical failures, omissions, delays, unauthorised access or any other situation that prevents acceptable administration, communication or integrity of the booking engine.

Exemption from liability

Headers and CarTrawler

The headings used in these Booking Conditions are for reference only and shall not affect the meaning or purpose of these Booking Conditions. CarTrawler is a trade name owned by ETrawler and all references to CarTrawler in these Booking Conditions are deemed to include ETrawler.

Modification of booking conditions and transport service conditions

CarTrawler reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change or update the Booking Conditions and the contents of this booking engine for any reason whatsoever, without notice and without incurring any liability to you, any other user or any third party. This right does not affect the Booking Conditions that you, as a user, accept at the time you make a valid booking with this booking engine, and we suggest that, for your records, you keep or print a copy of these Booking Conditions at the time you make your booking. CarTrawler does not physically store copies of the Booking Conditions for each booking, but you can access them at any time via your Voucher or the booking engine. Each time you access the booking engine you should check whether any changes have been made to the Booking Conditions.

The Carrier may, from time to time, change the Conditions of Carriage available on the booking engine and confirmed on your Voucher. CarTrawler is not responsible and shall have no liability in the event that the Transport Service Conditions available in the booking engine or on your Voucher have been or are changed by the Transport Service Provider at any time.

General booking conditions

As a consumer, you will benefit from any mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you reside. Nothing in these terms and conditions, including the applicable law provision below, affects your rights as a consumer to rely on such mandatory provisions of local law.

The Booking Conditions, your access to the booking engine and your use of the booking engine are governed by Irish law. If you are domiciled in Ireland, any dispute between you and CarTrawler arising out of or in connection with your use of this booking engine shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts. If you are domiciled in any country other than Ireland, any dispute arising between you and CarTrawler relating to or arising out of your use of this booking engine shall not be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts. Use of this booking engine is not authorised in any jurisdiction where all provisions of the Booking Conditions, including without limitation this paragraph, are not recognised. You acknowledge that no joint venture, partnership, employment or agency relationship exists between you and CarTrawler arising out of the Booking Conditions or your use of this reservation engine. Our compliance with the Booking Conditions is subject to applicable law and legal process, and nothing contained in these Booking Conditions shall prevent CarTrawler from complying with any applicable law enforcement or governmental authority requirements relating to (i) your use of this booking engine or (ii) information provided to or collected by CarTrawler in connection with your use of this booking engine. CarTrawler shall have no liability to you for complying with such requirements or requests. Using any information obtained from this booking engine to harass, abuse or harm others, or to contact, advertise, offer or solicit sales to any user or person without their express prior permission is a violation of these Booking Conditions.

If you have selected insurance and changed your residence, you will be redirected back to the search screen in the booking engine due to regulatory requirements. If your residence matches the country in which you are picking up the car and you change your residence within the booking process, you will be redirected back to the search screen in the booking engine due to different terms or prices that apply to vehicles rented in the country as a result of the additional mileage being used. If your residence is updated within the booking process to match the pick-up country, you will be redirected back to the search screen due to different terms or prices applying to vehicles rented in the country as a result of the additional mileage being used. These objective reasons are in line with the Geo-Blocking Regulation.

The term “value for money” describes the variables that influence the likelihood that a customer will hire a car rental. The commission we (CarTrawler) receive from car rental suppliers recognises the role we (CarTrawler) play in the booking and influences how we determine “value for money”.

What variables are taken into account to establish the classification criteria?

In identifying the best “value for money” for our customers, our ranking criteria take into account a number of variables, including:

  • The booking date and the location of the search.
  • The length of the rental period.
  • Customer ratings of car rental suppliers based on CSAT and NPS scores.
  • History of customer behaviour in relation to past transactions and price history of similar car rental results.
  • The commission we receive from car rental suppliers or insurance partners.

How do sponsored positions work?
